Lou Melchior is a danish artist living and working in London.

Melchior’s work reflects on our shared experience while pointing, almost imperceptibly, towards the solitary nature of being. Her images begin with the recognisable, the visual material of ordinary life, but resist the reassurance of a larger narrative. Instead, the artist strips away context and sense, turning what she sees in on itself. The result is a body of work that can feel at once intimate and elusive, funny and melancholic, precise and wonderfully difficult to pin down.

She studied sculpture in the 1990’s, yet photography has become her main medium. Her sculptural thinking is often evident in her work where she both cater to and disrupts the viewers perception.
